Description

Dumerils Boa

Dumerils boa is a captivating snake species which is massive and loved by all. This gorgeous creature is considered to be an extremely beautiful snakes on the market. If you’re looking for a simple to take care of and affectionate pet snakes, then Dumerils boa would be a great choice. this category. If you are interested, then be sure to look into its characteristics and behavior.

The snake is from southwest Madagascar which is why they are well-adapted to extreme temperatures. This is a benefit when you reside in hot areas such as those in the Middle east.

Another benefit of having such a snake is the fact that it’s non-venomous, which means the snake can be kept out of the reach with children too.

This snake is the most user-friendly snake there. So if you are just beginning to consider keeping reptiles for pets begin with this snake, and later move on to the next.

Dumerils Boa life span

To fully mature, Dumerils boa can take anywhere from 3 – 5 years. it’s a slow-growing snake. The lifespan of the snake is around 20 years or more, depending on how well they’re taken by their owners. If they’re provided with the essentials and extra care and pampering, they will last for longer than 20 years.

The diet of Dumerils boa.

Food

Carnivores, Dumerils are. Their diet as pets consist of eating rabbits, mice, hamsters and chicks, as well as Guinea porcines.

Boas of Dumeril are predators who are open to a variety of opportunities. They will eat almost anything that is in their natural habitat, which includes live reptile food such as birds, animals and even lizards.

Dumeril’s boas thrive in captivity, surrounded by readily available rodents, rabbits, and birds. Most of Dumeril’s birds consume frozen or frozen prey.

Snakes don’t need to be fed on a regular basis The Dumerils boa is required to be fed once every two weeks, however this is dependent on the age of your snake.

Young juveniles eat every 14 to 2 days . On the other hand, an adult Dumerils boa eats every between 25 and 28 days.

The hatchling should be fed each week.

The boas of Dumeril eat foods that are as wide as the snake’s largest area in its entire body. Smaller prey is what will fulfill the needs of the snake and larger ones could be reabsorbed, which could make the snake feel uncomfortable and nervous.

Even though the idea of feeding your pet every four weeks may be a bit harsh, the boas of Dumeril are known for having slow metabolisms, which is why it’s ideal for Dumeril’s.

In reality, boas are susceptible to obesity. Try feeding smaller amounts of prey as well as feeding it less often If you notice that it’s growing weight due to this method. You can be able to take it to a veterinarian for advice regarding whether it’s overweight or suffering from an illness.

The current knowledge of snake psychology suggests that our concept as “aggression” is not the case rather, snakes that have learned to link the opening of an enclosure with food (as the result of infrequent handling) will attack the first object they spot and assume it’s food, with no intention of harm to the hand of the keeper.

Care of the Dumerils boa

Dumerils boa make excellent pets since they are non-venomous as well as friendly and well-behaved. They are one of the least-appreciated pets due to the calmness they are. When watching them, you might be confused by their fierce appearance however, like they say, don’t look at a book by its cover. This snake is extremely affectionate!

Keeping the Temperature Just Right

The average temperature of your Dumeril Boa’s terrarium should be between 80 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit (26 and 40 degrees Celsius). This is a heat gradient that is necessary for them to be able to control their body temperature.

Monitor the temperature in your snake’s resting and basking area daily for optimum health. The humidity should be between 40 and 60 percent.

During the cool season, you will need to gradually cool your snake’s enclosure and turn off the heating pad during the day. This will help your snake go through a brumation period, which is a necessary process to conceive.

Give your snake enough vitamin D supplements to prevent metabolic bone disease and ensure they are getting enough basking time. If you are unsure of what your snake needs, consult an exotic pet veterinarian for advice.

Picked up my beautiful Dumerils boa this morning. Cutest thing ever, it shipped and got here right away. I had no problems doing business with this company and I’m looking forward to many more.
The only problem I had was at the FedEx center where I watched the guy tilt and shake my package, I had to proceed and tell him there was a live animal in there, after reading reviews after receiving my scaly friend, maybe it isn’t Boabays fault as to why some of these customers are receiving dead animals, but the way the package is being handle at these distribution centers.
A big bold sign that says “live animal” on the packaging would hopefully reduce the risk of such fragile animals being hurt or even killed.
Anyways thank you so much again, my kids are absolutely amazed by the little baby, and we can’t wait to watch it grow.
