Their muscular bodies and strong, sturdy legs are adapted for climbing and burrowing, making them excellent climbers and diggers in their natural habitat. Their skin is a combination of grey, brown, and green, allowing them to blend in with their surroundings and providing them with camouflage against predators.

In addition to their physical attributes, Rhino Iguanas have a unique behavior that sets them apart from other iguanas. Unlike their arboreal cousins, they are primarily terrestrial and spend most of their time on the ground. They are also diurnal, meaning they are active during the day, and spend their nights sleeping in burrows or rock crevices. This behavior is due to their diet, which consists mainly of vegetation and fruits found on the ground.

The Rhino Iguana is also known for its impressive courtship and mating rituals. During the breeding season, males will engage in head bobbing and push-up displays to attract females. They are also known to fight with other males for dominance and the right to mate. Once a female is selected, she will lay her eggs in a burrow or hole dug by the male. After an incubation period of 75-100 days, the eggs will hatch, and the hatchlings will emerge from the ground, ready to start their lives.

Unfortunately, this Iguana is facing threats in the wild due to habitat loss and poaching for the exotic pet trade. As a result, they are listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Various conservation efforts are being made to protect these magnificent creatures, including captive breeding programs and habitat restoration projects.
